What is the Amarta Method and how does it work?
The Amarta Method is Amarta Nurtura's proprietary five-pillar postpartum and life-transition wellness framework. The five pillars are: Rest (postpartum massage, lymphatic drainage, Bengkung belly binding, pelvic floor rehabilitation, float therapy), Nourish (maternal dietitian-designed anti-inflammatory meals, lactation-optimised cuisine, daily Jamu herbal tonics), Learn (lactation consultation, newborn care, sleep guidance, baby massage), Breathe (meditation, breathwork, women's circles, journaling), and Connect (Jamu rituals, Balinese blessing ceremonies, ancestral healing practices). These pillars work in sequence and synergy — physical restoration enables deeper emotional processing, which in turn supports relational connection with the baby.
Is the Amarta Method based on scientific evidence or is it purely traditional?
The Amarta Method is evidence-informed and tradition-honouring — it bridges both. The clinical protocols (pelvic floor rehabilitation, lymphatic drainage, lactation support, maternal nutrition) are based on current perinatal medicine research. The traditional elements (Jamu herbal preparations, Bengkung binding, Boreh treatments) are drawn from centuries-validated Indonesian and Balinese postpartum confinement practice. Where the two converge — for example, the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric in Jamu, or the fascial support mechanisms of belly binding — both traditions point to the same therapeutic outcome.
How is the Amarta Method different from standard postpartum care at a hospital?
Hospital postpartum care is medically focused: ensuring physical safety and early breastfeeding establishment before discharge, typically within 24–72 hours of birth. The Amarta Method begins where hospital care ends — addressing the six-week fourth trimester comprehensively. It adds nutritional restoration (hospitals do not provide therapeutic meal programmes), physical rehabilitation (pelvic floor, core, posture), emotional processing (breathwork, women's circles), and cultural meaning-making (Balinese rituals and ceremony) in an environment of absolute privacy with a very low guest-to-staff ratio.
Can the Amarta Method be practised at home, or does it require a stay?
The full Amarta Method is designed for an immersive stay environment because the interdependence of the five pillars requires the removal of domestic and social obligations — it is difficult to "Rest" while also managing a household. However, Amarta Nurtura provides each departing guest with a personalised continuation guide: key recipes, herbal preparation instructions, and a daily practice framework adapted for home. External (non-staying) guests in Bali can also access individual sessions (yoga, float therapy, massage, breathwork) through the Amarta Nurtura app.
Will the Amarta Method be available outside of Bali in the future?
Yes. The Amarta Method is explicitly designed as a franchise-ready framework with standardised protocols, practitioner training materials, and brand standards. A global franchise programme is planned for launch in 2027.
